Last month, in an exclusive story, we reported that Saba Qamar bagged the role of Qandeel Baloch, a social media sensation who was killed by her own brother. Now, the actress has confirmed the news herself by mentioning, “she had the courage to expose how two-faced people could be.”
The other cast of the venture titled Baaghi includes Sarmad Khoosat, Ali Kazmi, and Osman Khalid Butt. The story has been written by Shazia Khan, screenplay by Umera Ahmed while Farooq Rind has taken the charge of direction.
According to a report in Dawn.com, Saba Qamar, who is set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Irrfan Khan in Hindi Medium, has confirmed that she will be playing Qandeel Baloch in a biopic titled Baaghi. “I have cut my hair in order to play her. It’s going to be exciting,” told Qamar.
As we reported, it is an Urdu1 venture but not a big screen project. Instead, it is a drama serial which is titled as Baaghi. “We want to tell Qandeel’s story in a very sensitive way,” said Nina Kashif, the General Manager of Urdu1. “We do not want to glorify her nor do we want her to look pitiful. She was a victim of honor killing and this is what we will particularly be highlighting,” she added.
