Earlier in 2016, we reported that heartthrob Fawad Khan had been approached by Sanjay Leela Bhansali production to play Indian poet Sahir Ludhianvi in his biopic against Parineeti Chopra in Gustakhiyan. The latest reports reveal that ongoing tension between Pakistan and Indian has taken back the opportunity from Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s co-star in Raees, Shahrukh Khan has bagged the role.
Initially, Irrfan Khan and Priyanka Chopra were approached for the movie and it was scheduled to go on floor by mid-2016 but because of their unavailability, the makers approached Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Parineeti Chopra for the roles. Now, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have replaced Fawad Khan and Parineeti Chopra.
“Sahir’s character apparently ages in the film from his early 20s to his 40s and 50s and the makers now feel that Fawad would look more convincing playing the younger part, as compared to Irrfan,” reported Indian website Filmfare.
This is the second movie which Fawad Khan would be missing in Bollywood after Sarkar 3, where he was casted with Amitabh Bachchan.
